There was nothing we could have done.

No matter how much we like the Flex, keeping it around was never our call to make. It was always in Ford’s hands. Ford’s tiny, tiny hands.

At least I’ve still got time to buy a new one, although I think they stopped putting the Eco-boost V6 in it so what’s the point.

I still think I want to pick up one with the turbo 3.5 and AWD eventually...if only there were a manual option. I’d probably own one already if it was.

I came really close to buying one a couple months back. it was just out of budget and I really didn’t need something like it while I’m single and in college.

Does ford offer anything with the 3.5T and manual?
I wonder how similar the bell housing for the transmission in the V6 mustangs is.

Sweeeeet. Alought if I had the money it’d be a tough choice between two he Flex with an Eco boost and a Durango R/T. The major advantage of the Durango is Towing capacity. And snappy paddle shifted DCT,

Nope.

I don’t think they do, but I can’t tell if I’m looking at a transverse or longitudinal 3.5 block. Ithink a bigger problem would be the flywheel and clutch.

I’m sad that it’s going away, but relieved that it won’t be until 2020. That gives me time to conceivably be able to afford a new one.

There’s a house not too far from me that has two Ford Flexes and a Lincoln MKS in the driveway. I’ve been meaning to take a picture of it for a while but it’s on a main-ish road so I’d have to pull off on a side street and walk up in front of their house to get a shot. They must really love that D4 platform.

I’m wanting to say that the block is closely related to the Duratec in which case you can get an adapter to mate it to some Mazda transmissions I believe. Then again that wouldn’t work well with fwd.

they are basically the same block, differences would be related to the FWD and RWD implementations (bellhousing patterns, mounting locations, accessory mounts, etc.) I’ll try and look into it just for curiosity’s sake.

That’s because Ford has no stamina.
Flex is a nice-looking car. I recently bought a ‘13 Impala for two reasons: I’ve always been a Chevy man, and it was much
cheaper
than a comparable Fusion. The Fords are more expensive, though they may be better cars. I drove a Fusion Hybrid 1000 miles last summer and I was very impressed with it.
